Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16), Rep. John Garamendi (CA-03) and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18), sent a letter to the Ambassador of India, Taranjit Singh Sandu, addressing concerns about India's response to citizens protesting agricultural reforms:

"The situation in India is troubling," said Rep. Costa. "The right to peaceful protest is a basic democratic freedom and must be protected. I know many in the Valley are concerned about the safety of their friends and relatives in the region. I will continue to closely monitor the situation as it develops."
