"It's about time. People have been hurting without federal help for months. This bill will provide a booster for families struggling to pay bills and put food on the table. The average middle-class family of four will get $2,400. I would have liked more in direct payments, and support for cities facing budget crises, but compromises mean you don't always get everything you want. This bill also means that 750,000 Californians who were at risk of losing their only income the day after Christmas can enjoy the holiday without worrying about taking a cut.

"Once we pass this legislation, the next order of business is getting to work on the next relief package. There's no time to waste."
