In Case You Missed It Governor Ron DeSantis Announces $20 Million for Protection and Preservation of Biscayne Bay

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced a $20 million investment into the protection and preservation of Biscayne Bay, a joint funding initiative between the State of Florida and Miami-Dade County. The Governor was joined at the announcement by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Noah Valenstein.

The state of Florida and Miami-Dade County will each invest $10 million, for a total of $20 million, for important infrastructure updates and new technology to help predict and prevent sanitary sewer overflows into the bay.

In the coming weeks, the state and county will work collaboratively to identify and pursue potential projects. Miami-Dade County has already identified six projects for $5 million, $2.5 million of which the state will cover.
