Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Commends President for Selecting Paulison
April 6, 2006

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) today strongly commended President Bush for selecting R. David Paulison as his nominee for DHS Under Secretary for Federal Emergency Management. Paulison has been Acting Director of FEMA since Michael Brown resigned last fall.

"Mr. Paulison was a steady leader for Miami-Dade County following Hurricane Andrew and was instrumental in helping develop a better emergency management system," Diaz-Balart said. "Last fall, he entered into another difficult, demanding and catastrophic situation and has handled it with class, experience and intelligence. I am impressed with his strong leadership and accessibility and applaud President Bush for selecting Mr. Paulison. With hurricane season a few months away, Floridians can be confident that the federal government will be as prepared as possible."
