Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), the U.S. House Assistant Speaker, issued the following statement on the nomination of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra as Secretary of Health and Human Services:
"The United States is in the middle of a public health crisis that continues to wreak havoc on our most vulnerable communities. Xavier is a compassionate and focused leader. He understands how to bring people together to ensure that HHS is working to get Americans the help they need. I look forward to working with him to cure our nation of this pandemic, improve overall access to affordable health care, and to lower prescription drug costs for all Americans."
