Bennet Statement on Oral Arguments in Lawsuit to Eliminate the Affordable Care Act

Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement ahead of the U.S. Supreme Court hearing oral arguments in California v. Texas, the Republican-backed attempt to strike down the landmark health care law that protects over two million Coloradans with pre-existing conditions:

"Instead of building on the Affordable Care Act -- which is what I hear people in Colorado say they want every single day -- Republicans in Washington have spent the last ten years working to sabotage it. This case is the latest installment in their decade-long project to rip health care away from millions of Americans and return us to the days when insurance companies went unchecked and could exclude people with pre-existing conditions.

"The last thing we should do in the middle of a global pandemic is blow up our health care system. Instead, we should focus on passing another relief package to fight this public health crisis and achieve universal health care with a public option."
