Issue Position

We need safe, drug-free neighborhoods and schools. It will take all of us working together to achieve this. Our dedicated first responders and law enforcement professionals put their lives on the line every day to protect the unprotected. As they work to keep getting better and more responsive to the citizens they serve, I will support them. I will also work hand in hand with our citizens, community, business, faith and law enforcement leaders and professionals to push for increased transparency, accountability and consistent statewide training standards.

We also need to do more to address the root causes of why people are turning to violence against themselves and others. We need to protect the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners, while at the same time keeping guns away from those whose violent criminal history or adjudicated mental instability legally prohibit them from firearms.
