Issue Position

The future of our region depends on a thriving economy. We know that too often economic development programs have failed to provide the good-paying jobs that were promised. We need a smarter approach to economic development that strengthens our economy, generates living wage jobs, and benefits our entire community.

The pandemic has revealed to us how close to the edge many in our community are living--with wages and benefits that have eroded over time. We can take this opportunity to strengthen protections for working families, grow and support small businesses, retain top talent from our nationally renowned universities, and invest in infrastructure and technology--such as high-speed broadband--that attracts new businesses.
