Griffith Statement on H. Res. 1153

Press Release

Date: Oct. 2, 2020
Issues: Immigration

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today after voting against H. Res. 1153:

"I am disturbed by reports of forced medical procedures taking place on detainees in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. These allegations warrant investigation and condemnation if found to be true. No one should be subjected to an unwanted medical procedure.

"The resolution on the floor today, however, went beyond that sentiment, which has broad support. By unnecessarily including an endorsement of abortion, the resolution lost my support. We should be upholding the dignity of all human life, from detainees in ICE custody to the unborn."
