Dear Speaker Pelosi:

We all know that our economy is confronting the worst economic turndown since the Great Depression. Almost every sector of the economy has been impacted including theme parks. This is crucial for my working-class district in Orange County because Disneyland is the largest employer. CNBC reports that since the pandemic began, Disney lost $4.5 billion in operating income due to the closure in parks, hotels, and cruise lines, which is over a third of Disney's business.

Yesterday, Disney announced that they would be laying off 28,000 theme park workers in the country-- 25 percent of its domestic resort workforce. The layoffs include executives and salaried workers but the bulk will be part-time employees.

Each weekend, I am with local community organizations helping to distribute boxes of food. People wait in line for hours. My constituents are struggling economically.

I support your efforts from the Heroes Act to the new stimulus package. I urge you to reach an agreement that will allow aid to our fellow Americans for unemployment benefits and food assistance programs.
