Delgado Visits Sullivan County Government Officials in Monticello

MONTICELLO, NY -- Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) visited the Sullivan County municipal building in Monticello and met with local leaders including Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek, Deputy County Manager and Family Services Commissioner John Liddle, and Director of Communications Dan Hust. During the tour, the group discussed the urgent need for federal relief funding for state and local governments as well as the county's work to expand access to broadband in rural communities.

"In March, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I toured the Sullivan County emergency services facilities to see how they were preparing for this global health crisis. Now, as our communities continue to endure the economic impacts of the virus, I visited the county's municipal building to connect with local leaders and see how they are providing for our region during these difficult times," said Rep. Delgado. "We discussed our shared concern over the urgent need for federal relief funding for state and local governments, and the county's initiatives to provide broadband internet to students and residents seeking to get online. For months, our local governments have met the moment and provided for our communities. Now, the federal government must ensure they have the resources they need to continue essential services and recoup losses sustained during this pandemic. I'll keep urging my colleagues at the federal level to come to an agreement and provide urgently needed relief for our localities."

Last week, Rep. Delgado voted to pass an updated version of the Heroes Act which includes a number of priorities championed by the Congressman to bring urgently needed assistance to communities across New York's 19th Congressional District. The text has Rep. Delgado's Small Business Debt Relief Extension Act to automatically extend repayment measures for qualified SBA loans, as well as his Prioritized Paycheck Protection Program or P4 Act, which allows the hardest hit businesses to apply for additional PPP funding. The bill also includes Rep. Delgado's Direct Support for Communities Act, which creates a distribution formula for state and local funding to ensure that all localities, regardless of size, receive direct federal support.
