About PFAS

We must protect our water from lead and cancer-causing PFAS chemicals. The Detroit Free Press said "PFAS contamination is Michigan's biggest environmental crisis in 40 years." Thousands of Michigan residents' water supplies have been impacted and the full scope of the contamination is unknown. Michigan took the right step by enforcing standards that mirror the EPA advisory level, but we know little about PFAS chemicals, and more must be done to protect our water and our families.

In Congress, I'll be proud to:
1
Invest in PFAS testing. There are 3,000 variants of PFAS chemicals, but tests can only detect 30 of them.
2
Prioritize PFAS clean up by investing in new clean water infrastructure.
3
Work with Republicans and Democrats to pass legislation that forces polluters to clean up their contamination.
4
Hold corporate polluters accountable for cleaning up their messes, instead of making taxpayers foot the bill.
