Rubio Welcomes Election of Mauricio Claver-Carone as President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) Board of Governors elected Mauricio Claver-Carone to serve as the next IDB President for the next five years:

"The election of Mauricio Claver-Carone as the next president of the IDB comes at a crucial time when our hemisphere is in need of bold leadership. As Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the U.S. National Security Council, Claver-Carone faithfully served our nation with the highest respect and integrity as he advanced policies that promoted our interests and supported our allies in ensuring regional stability. I have no doubt he will continue to work tirelessly to promote economic development and prosperity in Latin America."

Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women's Issues. He is currently Acting Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
