Rose, Lanza, Cusick Help Secure Return of Indoor Dining in NYC

Congressman Max Rose, State Senator Andrew Lanza, and Assembly Member Michael Cusick, who have been leading bipartisan efforts to safely reopen indoor dining in New York City, issued the following joint statement on Governor Andrew Cuomo's announcement that indoor dining will be allowed in New York City in a reduced capacity:

"We appreciate Governor Cuomo hearing our calls and working with us to bring back New York City indoor dining," Rose, Lanza and Cusick said. "Restaurants have been holding on for dear life and need to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. But this is just one step in a long journey. We need to make sure they get the support and guidance they need to safely reopen and we won't stop fighting to make sure they get much needed and deserved relief."

Rose, who has been a leading advocate for safely opening indoor dining at reduced capacity, has been working closely with State Senator Andrew Lanza, Assembly Member Michael Cusick and local restaurant owners in advocating to the Governor and Mayor the return of indoor dining. Last month, Rose and Lanza called for the Governor to safely reopening restaurants for indoor dining and recently penned a column in the New York Daily News saying, "when it comes to indoor dining, New York is failing and falling behind."

Rose is a co-sponsor and strong supporter of the bipartisan RESTAURANTS Act which would establish $120 billion stabilization grant program to help independent restaurants who have faced massive revenue losses, increased costs, decreased business. Rose called on Congressional leadership to enhance and improve PPP in the next COVID-19 relief package to better serve NYC restaurants.

Rose has continually met with restaurant owners across Staten Island and South Brooklyn and continues to stay in close contact about what's needed and how best he can help advocate for them.
