Issue Position

I will continue to fight to ensure our classrooms maintain adequate funding levels and our teachers can truly teach. I voted to provide $1.6 billion in raises for teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses in the 2020-2021 budget. I supported increasing the state's share of education funding from 38% to 45%, and alleviating "recapture" pressures felt by districts and their communities by $3.5 billion. Additionally, I believe early childhood development is a critical and important step in a child's growth and preparedness.
