Issue Position

Teachers are key to our children's success and can now make up to $32,000 more each year under the school finance reform legislation I fought for last session. Our awesome teachers are why Texas has the 4th highest graduation rate in America. My mother was a teacher, and my wife is a teacher, as well so I know firsthand how hard our teachers work and the obstacles they overcome. With the huge gains for education made this past legislative session, I have spent a large amount of time visiting schools and listening to teachers, principals, and parents about how to build on our legislative success. We will continue to invest in education, ensuring funding goes directly to the classroom.
