Issue Position

Last session we made huge gains for education in a bipartisan fashion. Over 5.5 million school children will benefit from our increasing education funding to $94 billion, which includes teacher pay raises. We also kept our promises to our retired teachers by securing the retired teachers pension and provided them with an extra paycheck. I've been fighting against the flawed and punitive "Robin Hood" scheme since entering the Texas Legislature, and although our work is far from over on that front, I'm pleased to report that I successfully fought to reduce Plano ISD's Robin Hood payment by over $70 million and will continue to build on that success next session.
