Rep. Cisneros Praises Appropriations Committee Passage and Increase of SBDC Funding for FY 2021

Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) praised the passage and increase of funding for Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) in the House Appropriations' Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Financial Services Subcommittee funding bill. Rep. Cisneros led a bipartisan letter advocating for strong funding levels for SBDCs, like the one hosted at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF). He also testified before the House Appropriations Committee urging for an increase in funding.

"Cal State Fullerton's SBDC has provided unwavering support for small businesses in the 39th District, and they've been working overtime to help our community throughout this pandemic. Even after this crisis ends, SBDCs will be needed more than ever to assist small businesses get back on their feet," said Rep. Cisneros. "I'm grateful SBDCs are receiving increased funding following my bipartisan letter to the Financial Services Subcommittee. This is not only an investment in the success of our small businesses, but also an investment in the growth of our local communities."

The Committee approved $140 million for SBDCs, a $5 million increase enacted in FY 2020. The Appropriations THUD bill will now head to the House floor for a vote.
