Huffman, Select Committee on Climate Crisis, Unveil Climate Crisis Action Plan

Representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael), a Member of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, joined fellow committee members and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi today to unveil a comprehensive congressional climate action framework.

The Select Committee's climate action framework outlines ambitious and achievable policies to:

Grow our economy and put Americans back to work in clean energy jobs
Protect the health of all families
Make sure our communities can withstand the impacts of climate change
Protect America's land and water for future generations
"The climate crisis touches every part of our lives -- the economy, infrastructure, public health -- and our future. And we need to tackle each element of this crisis if we are going to have a fighting chance to save our planet and build a more healthy, just, and resilient America. No half measures, no empty promises," said Rep. Huffman. "We have a chance to make real and important change with this Climate Crisis Action Plan -- across all sectors of the economy and society, and across all congressional committees and jurisdictions. The climate crisis isn't waiting, the people suffering across the country aren't waiting. And neither should we."

The Select Committee's plan would put the country on a path to net-zero carbon pollution by 2050, if not earlier. It would power economic recovery through clean energy investment and family-sustaining jobs, and address the legacy of environmental injustice harming America's low-income communities and communities of color.

The report specifically recommends timely action on several climate issues Rep. Huffman has worked on during his career, pointing to numerous Huffman-led bills as possible tools for Congress to act on, including:
