Congresswoman Angie Craig Helps Farmington Resident Recover $94,000 Federal Government Denied Him with Expected Payments Totaling Near $115,000

U.S. Rep. Angie Craig helped recover nearly $94,000 to Alex Soli from Farmington, Minnesota, after he waited for more than five years for disability payments he was owed from the federal government. Additionally, he will receive disability payments moving forward, meaning he will be rightfully paid almost $115,000 in total over the course of the next year.

Alex waited for over five years before the Social Security Administration fixed their error. He contacted Rep. Craig's office after years of trying to apply for Social Security Disability benefits, for a well-documented medical condition. He did what he was asked to do - he provided all of the information they asked for including multiple medical examinations - all of which confirmed his eligibility for benefits. Yet, Alex had to wait for years while his hearings to discuss this discrepancy were postponed, ultimately indefinitely.

"The most important work we can do as Members of Congress is making sure the federal government is working for hardworking Minnesotans," said Rep. Angie Craig. "I'm honored that we were able to help Alex right a wrong that deeply impacted his life. I only wish we had known about this sooner so that he could have gotten what he was owed earlier. As soon as he contacted Rep. Craig's office, her casework team got to work and got Alex what he deserved in a matter of months. He will not only receive the monthly benefits he is eligible for, but he was also awarded nearly $94,000 in rightful back-pay benefits.

Rep. Craig has returned or saved $448,589 taxpayer dollars and brought $354,642,913 grant dollars to the Second Congressional District during her first term in Congress.
