Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) issued the following statement after a federal appeals court struck a blow Friday against the Trump Administration, ruling that the President acted unlawfully by trying to shift $3.8 billion in previously appropriated Pentagon funds--including $400 million from F-35 and $155 million from V-22 programs--to pay for his much touted border wall:
"I applaud the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling today that stops this Administration's unlawful attempt to divert millions of critically-needed defense funds. As I said in February, President Trump's attempt to raid these funds to build his archaic border wall would jeopardize our national security and put American jobs at risk--many of which are located in the North Texas district that I represent. As your representative, I will keep fighting to ensure the jobs of North Texans remain protected and to stop reckless attempts by our President to fulfill campaign promises without proper consultation from Congress."
