Issue Position: Cutting Runaway Spending

Runaway Washington spending is one of the greatest threats our nation faces, burying our children and grandchildren under mountains of debt. This is a bipartisan problem as both parties love to spend when they're in power.

In my view, our government should operate like a family at the kitchen table, spending only what we take in. I voted for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution that ensures that our country isn't just writing IOUs for future generations to pay.

I've supported legislation that resulted in the largest cuts in domestic discretionary spending since World War II. However, more must be done to rein in our nation's debt.
