Rep. Ted Budd's Reforms Included in GOP Police Bill

Today, Rep. Ted Budd sponsored the JUSTICE Act, the official Republican police reform bill.

The bill included aspects of Rep. Budd's Community Policing Act (de-escalation training and community policing programs), as well as additional transparency measures and increased federal penalties for lynching.

Rep. Budd released the following statement:

"Instead of heavy-handed federal intervention that would make a police officer's job harder, the JUSTICE Act will make cops better, which will make our streets safer. I'm proud that the bill includes two planks that were previously included in the Community Policing Act that I introduced earlier this week. We shouldn't be defunding the police, we should implement common-sense reforms that support police and build stronger, safer communities. That's what the JUSTICE Act does."
