Congressman Gonzalez Announces The HEROES Act to Provide Over $1.2 Billion for 15th District of Texas to Combat COVID-19

Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that H.R. 6800, House Democrats' newly introduced stimulus package entitled The Heroes Act would provide approximately $1,230,765,515 in federal COVID-19 relief funding to cities and counties throughout the 15th District of Texas. These funds can be used for COVID-related expenses, to replace foregone revenues not projected on January 31, 2020, or to respond to negative economic effects of COVID. Funds would be available until expended, providing flexibility over the next several years.

These funds come to help those cities and counties with less than 500,000 residents who did not meet the population threshold set by the Department of Treasury in the CARES Act. This legislation will provide immediate relief to local governments incurring new and unforeseen costs and experiencing revenue losses due to the pandemic regardless of size.

"Every community must be equipped to combat the COVID-19 pandemic," said Congressman Gonzalez. "I am proud to support this aspect of the Heroes Act and support our local governments on the frontlines of this public health and economic crisis."
