Proclamation - Milbank Memorial Fund Recognition Day
WHEREAS, the Milbank Memorial Fund is celebrating 100 years of informing policy for health care and population health; and
WHEREAS, since 1905, the Fund has provided practical knowledge to decision makers in health so they can make more effective policy, especially for those at greater risk for disease or death; and
WHEREAS, the Milbank Memorial Fund has contributed to agencies offering health and social services to the poor; created models for neighborhood health centers; promoted reform in policy for financing health services; sponsored research in nutrition, demography and epidemiology; established models for community-based services in mental health; and
supported the work of professionals in community medicine; and
WHEREAS, since its inception, the Fund has spent $465 million for charitable purposes in the United States and abroad; and
WHEREAS, decision makers in North Dakota have utilized information made available through the Milbank Memorial Fund to benefit the citizens of North Dakota.
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim December 8, 2005, MILBANK MEMORIAL FUND RECOGNITION DAY in the state of North Dakota in appreciation for the Fund's contributions to health care in our state and nation.
