U.S. House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn issued the following statement today on the appointment of Republican members to the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis:

"I welcome the Republican members appointed to the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis today by Leader McCarthy. This committee is an important step to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and equity in the federal government's response to the coronavirus crisis.

"The Select Committee will act with the urgency this crisis demands. I look forward to speaking to Ranking Member Scalise soon and we will announce our first steps in the coming days."
