Rep. Estes Announces CARES Act Funding for Kansas Rural Health Providers

Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced more than $8.5 million in grants for Kansas rural health care providers from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Kansas Department of Health and Environment will receive a Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program grant for nearly $7.7 million, and the University of Kansas Medical Center Research Institute will receive a Telehealth Resource grant for $828,571.

"Kansans living in rural areas have limited choices for health care providers, making small hospitals and telehealth services critical in our fight against COVID-19," said Rep. Estes. "This funding can significantly help struggling rural hospitals and expand telehealth across Kansas."

Estes voted in support of the CARES Act, which included $150 million in assistance for rural hospitals in the HHS Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program.
