I was pleased by the USDA announcement that there is an ongoing investigation into the state of the beef industry that will be expanded to include circumstances following the COV-19 outbreak. I urge you to work together to ensure that any anti-competitive behavior is identified and punished.
As you investigate the beef market and ongoing practices, I urge you to gather information from the membership of the Montana Stockgrowers Association, the Montana Cattlemen's and Cattlewomen's Associations, the Montana Farm Bureau Federation, the Montana Agri-Women and the Montana Farmer's Union. These organizations and their members can provide important first-hand information on pricing and practices that may be useful to your investigations.
