Dear Speaker Pelosi, Leader McConnell, Leader McCarthy, and Leader Schumer,

I write to you today regarding the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program
(PPP). As you are aware, this lending program authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and
Economic Security (CARES) Act ran out of money on April 16, 2020. This is unacceptable.

Many families in my district, and across the country, are facing unparalleled financial hardship.
Small businesses are counting on the assistance offered by the PPP to keep their businesses
afloat, pay their workers, and put food on the table for their families. I came to Washington to
help advocate for my constituents and they expect us to be practical, not political. That is why I
urge you to put partisan politics aside and come to an agreement that will quickly fund this
program, along with the Economic Injury and Disaster Loan program.

While I am grateful that $3.7 billion dollars from these programs have been approved for 20,000
Kansas businesses, it has become clear that this is not enough to help keep most businesses
afloat. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and it is critical that we help them
when they need it most -- the consequences of not doing so will be devastating to both our
economy and to working-class families.

Additionally, we must make sure assistance is going to those who need it most -- not just big
corporations and the well-connected. That means providing strong accountability and
transparency in the distribution of these funds so that its benefits reach smaller and less advantaged businesses. This is particularly important for minority business enterprises, which
already face barriers that are only being further exacerbated by this crisis.

Thank you for your consideration of my request. People all over the country are looking to their
government for clear, thoughtful leadership during this stressful time, and I look forward to
working with you both to provide for them during this crisis.
