Over the last few weeks, Rep. Greg Stanton has been making coronavirus resources available in both English and Spanish. The resources are available on his website, including a guide of free meals provided by local schools in Maricopa County which was created by his office.
The site also links to a Spanish-language "Small Business Solutions Webinar" that Stanton's team held this week with representatives from the Small Business Administration to provide local business owners with step-by-step instructions for accessing emergency loans and grants. Stanton says many businesses have contacted his office to say they've since submitted their applications.
"There are many Spanish-speaking families in our state, and we need to make sure they have resources available to them in the language they feel most comfortable with," Stanton said. "I know these resources can be difficult to track down and government websites can be hard to navigate. My team and I are getting creative with the information we distribute--we're working to make sure it's easy to find and meets the needs of our Spanish-speaking community."
