Rep. Doggett Statement on $2 Trillion COVID-19 Stimulus Package

Statement

Date: March 26, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Today, as the House readies for a vote on the $2 trillion stimulus package, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chairman of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, said:

"What a steep price for Trump's continued delay, denial, and deceptions--refusing to heed warnings available since last year to prepare for this pandemic. Amidst the many hard-won successes over Administration resistance are significant disappointments, including inadequate taxpayer protections in the giant election-year corporate bailouts as well as how little patients, particularly the uninsured, benefitted directly and how much pharmaceutical manufacturers did. To help our small businesses stay afloat and immediately sustain the newly unemployed, victims to multiple Trump Administration failures, I am supporting this flawed bill."
