Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the below statement following President Trump's declaration of a national emergency to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19):

"Our top priority is to keep Americans safe and stop the spread of this virus. I support President Trump's action to declare this escalating public health threat a national emergency. This step will further strengthen emergency prevention, response, and preparedness efforts. We must all work together to meet this threat. In this spirit, I commend our work at the state level, as well as the public-private partnerships that were just announced to streamline and increase testing capacities. I'm especially proud to see a Third District company -- Walmart -- leading on this initiative. By focusing appropriate resources and exercising proper caution, we will overcome this challenge."
