Dear Chairman Thompson:

Thank you for your continued leadership in protecting our nation. As you are aware, the novel coronavirus, which has infected over 81,000 people nationwide, including over 50 people in the United States, is expected to spread across the world and the number of infected individuals within the United States will continue to rise. Moreover, the U.S.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has advised communities to take precautions in the event that the coronavirus spreads.

Orange County had one of the first patients who tested positive in the United States with the novel coronavirus, which concerned a few of my constituents. Yesterday, Orange County officials declared a local health emergency to be prepared for the potential spread of the novel coronavirus.

As we prepare for the possible spread of this virus, I respectfully request a hearing on this matter.
