Rep. Cuellar Announces $1 Million for Water Infrastructure in Mirando City

Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced a $1 million in federal funds for water infrastructure improvements . These federal funds, passed through the Texas Department of Agriculture's Community Development Block Grant, will be used to develop and upgrade the region's water infrastructure. These improvements will secure safe and reliable drinking water for the residents of Mirando City.

"It is critical that our water infrastructure is safe and functioning in our communities, and across the country," said Congressman Cuellar. "This investment will ensure that households, businesses, and industries in our city have safe, clean drinking water. As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fund infrastructure projects that advance our citizens' well-being and promote economic prosperity. Community Development Block Grant Program for Mirando City

As a member of the Appropriations Committee, the Congressman worked to secure $3,425,000,000 for the Community Development Block Grant Program in the final spending bill, an increase $60 million from last year. The Community Development Block Grant program works to strengthen rural communities by improving living environments, and expanding economic opportunities.

Specifically, this grant will be used to install water system upgrades on behalf of the Mirando City Water Supply Corporation (MCWSC). Improvements include a new water well, with associated pumps and transmission line, as well as electrical upgrades to the Mirando City water well facility.
