Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, a bold proposal to strengthen workers' power to join a union and hold wealthy corporations accountable for violating workers' rights.

"I'm proud to join my colleagues in passing this important worker-friendly legislation," Rep. Lieu said. "The freedom of association is a fundamental right. When workers have the power to stand together and form a union, they have higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions. A recent Princeton study found that, over the last eight decades, unions have consistently provided workers with a 10-to-20 percent wage boost over their non-union counterparts. That's why I'm proud to support the PRO Act to help create an economy where everyone can succeed."
