Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) released the following statement after he joined his colleagues to pass the H.Con.Res 83, the War Powers Resolution:

"Today, my colleagues and I took a step forward to protect the lives of Americans and the values we hold dear. Last week, the President carried out an airstrike that killed a high-ranking Iranian military officer. The strike jeopardized our national security and put our brave servicemembers in harm's way--without proper Congressional consultation. As your member of Congress, I took an oath to protect American lives and keep our country out of senseless wars--that is why I voted for today's resolution that will limit the President from further escalating military activity without approval from Congress."
