Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) issued the following statement after 96 individuals affiliated with MS-13 were charged in Suffolk County:
"Our community has witnessed the indiscriminate brutality of gang violence first-hand at the hands of MS-13, which swept into and took hold in our communities. Those at every level of government have zeroed in on combating this ruthless gang and ridding their escalating violence from our streets, as evidenced by today's crackdown on nearly 100 MS-13 gang members and associates in Suffolk County alone, spearheaded by county officials in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other agencies. I look forward to continuing to work with those at every level of government to eradicate gang violence from our communities."
In Congress, Congressman Zeldin has regularly participated in meetings to strengthen the partnership between different levels of government, including multiple meetings that have directly included President Trump, both at the White House and on Long Island. Congressman Zeldin has also worked on legislative efforts in Congress to deliver the resources to help tackle this issue from the federal level as well.
