Rep. Williams Praises House Passage of the USMCA

Statement

Date: Dec. 19, 2019
Location: Washington D.C.
Issues: Trade

Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives approved the United States Mexico Canada Agreement:

"I have long-championed the USMCA as a victory for Texas and our nation -- and while it's disappointing that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle chose to play politics instead of finalizing this deal when called upon, I am grateful we finally put the best interests of our nation first. It is a victory for Texas workers, businesses and communities, as trade between our home state and our North American neighbors supports nearly one million jobs, and results in billions of dollars flowing into our economy. This agreement is about growth and certainty for our country, and it sends the message that we are going to lead the world."
