Garamendi Delivers Keynote Address at Alzheimer's Education and Empowerment Event in Fairfield

Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), delivered the keynote address at the Alzheimer's Disease Education and Empowerment-Early Detection Matters event in Solano County to discuss advancements in Alzheimer's research.

"Sadly, over 650,000 Californians and 21,000 Solano County residents are living with Alzheimer's today. I know what it's like to care for a loved one with Alzheimer's, and the incredible toll it takes on individuals and their families. It's imperative that we provide the necessary support to find a cure and support those living with Alzheimer's. As a member of the Bipartisan Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer's Disease, I've introduced and supported efforts to provide much-needed research into this disease. That includes supporting a $350 million increase in National Institute of Health (NIH) funding for Alzheimer's research, and $13.4 million for the Alzheimer's Disease Supportive Services Program," Garamendi said.

"It's an honor to address this gathering today--and I'm incredibly grateful to the local advocates and service providers who are working together to support those impacted by Alzheimer's and fighting to find a cure for this disease once-and-for-all," Garamendi concluded.
