Higgins Votes for Bills Supporting Veteran-Owned Businesses

Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) supported the passage of three bills this week to help Veterans start small businesses and access resources within the Small Business Administration (SBA).

H.R. 3537, "Veteran Entrepreneur Training Act of 2019" -- would codify the Boots to Business program for the next five years. This program advises Veterans and their dependents about business ownership, best practices for organizing and operating a business, and how to raise capital.
H.R. 499, "Service-Disabled Veterans Small Business Continuation Act" -- would extend federal contracting preference, for a limited period, to small businesses inherited by the surviving spouse of a service member that had a partially service-related disability.
H.R. 3734, "SERV Act" -- would require the Small Business Administration to produce an outreach plan for Veteran-related programs. The bill also requires the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to publish a report on Veteran-owned businesses' access to credit.
