Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) visited and toured the Planned Parenthood Anaheim Health Center. The Health Center provides family planning and healthcare services to women and families, including birth control, breast cancer screenings, and healthcare services. Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood withdrew from Title X funding because of the Trump Administration's attacks on reproductive healthcare.
"Women's health rights are under constant attack by this Administration and the Title X gag rule undermines the ability of women and families to receive life-saving healthcare services," said Rep. Cisneros. "Planned Parenthood provides women and families with the care, support, and respect they deserve as they seek a range of critical preventative healthcare services, including cancer screenings, STD testing, and yearly physical exams. I'll continue to support clinics like the Planned Parenthood Anaheim Health Center because women should feel safe and secure when consulting with their physician and they have a right to make their own healthcare decisions."
"At Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, compassionate care to the community; no matter what. We're very grateful for Congressman Cisneros' support and shared belief that everyone should have access to quality, affordable healthcare," said Nichole Ramirez, Vice President of Communications and Donor Relations.
Rep. Cisneros introduced the Helping Expand and Launch Transitional Health (HEALTH) for Women Veterans Act. This bill would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to extend an ongoing pilot program jointly run with the US Air Force under the Transition Assistance Program that educates transitioning servicewomen about women's health care at the VA.
