Representative John Carter (TX-31) released the following statement after voting against the continuing resolution appropriations bill.
"A couple of months ago, Congress passed a short-term CR that I was hopeful would give appropriators time to get their work done, but the work is still far from complete. I never want to see a government shutdown but governing under the threat of a shutdown is no way to responsibly govern, and funding through short-term continuing resolutions is inefficient, wasteful, and damaging to our nation's military. It is Congress' constitutional duty to fund the government and we must fulfill that obligation by completing full-year appropriations bills that the President will sign."
