Delgado to host panel on supporting upstate veterans' reintegration

Statement

Date: Nov. 4, 2019
Location: Brunswick, NY
Issues: Veterans

As part of his in-district work week focused on supporting our nation's veterans, Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) will host a panel discussion on Friday, November 8 with elected officials, community leaders, veteran support organizations, and non-profits focused on aiding veterans in their transition to civilian life. The panel will discuss employment opportunities, mental health support, VA benefits, and community engagement for veterans following military service.

"Veterans from upstate New York and across the country answered the call to serve and it is now our solemn duty to support these brave Americans and equip them with the necessary resources to reintegrate back into society. I've made a focus of my time in Congress to hear from veterans both on my Veterans Advisory Committee, and through visits to organizations working to support those returning from serving our country," said Delgado. "I will continue to support our veterans at the federal level through legislative efforts and highlight the work of those on the ground helping veterans and their families during this transition, whether it be through assistance finding a job, peer-to-peer mentoring, working on local farms, or connecting veterans to resources in the community. Friday's panel is an important opportunity to hear more from veterans service organizations and identify additional ways our community can assist veterans in their transition. I particularly appreciate Assemblyman Jake Ashby for joining us to share his insights as both a veteran and elected official. Supporting our veterans should never be a partisan issue. I invite all of our community to join us in this very important discussion."
