Representative Houlahan Denounces Decision To Formally Withdraw From The Paris Agreement

Statement

Date: Nov. 5, 2019
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Environment

"The Administration seems determined to disregard the scientific fact that climate change is happening," said Houlahan. "Withdrawing from the Paris Agreement sends an alarming signal to the international community -- the United States isn't in the fight to combat climate change. By doing nothing, we are exposing vulnerabilities in our national security, health, and economy. Climate change is far reaching and knows no borders, and we must respond with commensurate action. The Senate failed to take up our legislation, the Climate Action Now Act, which would have prevented the Administration from making such an egregious error. This legislation also includes my critical amendment, which would establish our country as a leader in this fight and encourage us to work closely with our allies and partners around the world in a concerted effort to protect our planet."
