Yesterday, the U.S. Treasury indicated that America's National Debt breached $23 trillion for the first time in the country's history. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:
"Yesterday's news about the national debt's latest "milestone' won't grab a lot of headlines at all, but it should frighten every American. Members of the next generation will each be saddled with tens of thousands of dollars of debt -- simply because their elected officials in the U.S. Congress won't make the tough decisions necessary to cut spending and balance the budget. All debts must be settled eventually, and I hope we take action before it's too late to save future generations of Americans from economic crisis and calamity."
