Thune Statement on Democrats Blocking Military Funding

Senate Majority Whip Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement after the Senate Democrats blocked passage of a bill that would provide essential funding for our troops.

"As members of Congress, it is our duty to ensure our men and women in uniform have the tools they need to keep our nation safe. By blocking this year's defense appropriations bill, Democrats are failing to fulfill that fundamental responsibility. The stakes are too high when it comes to our national defense. Not only are Democrats putting politics before the safety of our nation, but they are also blocking funding for a well-deserved pay raise for our troops. If Democrats are actually serious about legislating, then they need to put aside the political games and work with Republicans to get our military funded. "
