Representative Adriano Espaillat Statement on the Passing of Chairman Elijah Cummings

Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement on the passing of his Democratic colleague and House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings of Maryland:

"I am deeply saddened by the news and untimely passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings and extend my sincerest condolences to his entire family, friends and his constituents," said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13). "This is indeed a sad and somber day for our country, and as we reflect on his life and the legacy that he leaves behind, let's remember that Congressman Cummings was a man of great faith, upstanding character and moral values. As scripture tells us:

"Congressman Cummings dedicated his entire life to public service. He was a pillar in the city of Baltimore, a pillar of our nation, and a guardian of our constitution. While many of us have taken the oath to serve our nation, Congressman Cummings never frayed from his responsibility to fight for justice, ensure equal rights for all."
