"Nearly 140,000 high schoolers suffer concussions every year according to @NFHS_Org, though many go unreported. Today, I introduced the Protecting Student Athletes from Concussions Act to help elementary and secondary schools prevent, identify, & treat concussions."

"My bill would require states to adopt "when in doubt, sit it out" policies, which prevent student athletes suspected of having sustained a concussion from returning to play the same day and, after that, only once cleared by a qualified health care professional."

"For too long, we've had the wrong mentality about the long-term dangers of concussions. These are serious injuries that can't be shrugged off. Adopting the "when in doubt, sit it out" policy will help increase student health and safety in youth sports."
