Gianforte recaps seventh statewide town hall of 2019

Congressman Greg Gianforte held his seventh statewide town hall of 2019 last night to discuss issues important to Montanans.

"Last night, thousands of Montanans came together to make their voices heard. Their ideas, concerns, and opinions guide me as I serve them," Gianforte said.

Pointing to poll results from the statewide town hall, Gianforte said, "Nearly 9 in 10 Montanans said they think Congress should focus on other issues rather than impeaching President Trump. They told me they want Congress to secure the border, rein in out-of-control spending, and bring down rising health care costs."

Gianforte's statewide town hall reached nearly 100,000 Montanans. Gianforte took questions from constituents throughout the state, including Absarokee, Alder, Brady, Corvallis, Martinsdale, Peerless, and Troy, as well as several larger towns and cities.

Many of the questions Montanans posed to Gianforte related to veterans' issues, forest management, agriculture, prescription drug prices, and House Democrats' efforts to impeach President Trump.

In addition to last night's town hall, Gianforte has held statewide town halls in January, February, April, and May, as well as town halls for seniors throughout the state in April and July.

During last night's town hall, Gianforte posed five questions to Montanans to gauge their opinions on various topics. The questions and answers follow:

3. Do you believe Congress should be focused on impeaching President Trump or on other issues?

89% - Focus on other issues

11% - Focus on impeaching President Trump

4. Who do you think is responsible for our crisis along the southern border?

26% - Congress

8% - The executive branch, spanning multiple administrations

66% - Both

5. When it comes to holding town hall events, do you prefer statewide town halls, like this, or physical town hall meetings?

80% - Statewide town halls
