McConnell Helps Deliver Equipment for Hopkins County Fire Department

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today the South Hopkins Volunteer Fire Department (SHVFD) was awarded a $14,380 competitive federal grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The department plans to use the resources to purchase new personal protective equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatuses and training materials.

Senator McConnell contacted FEMA in support of his constituents' grant application and their mission to improve the safety and efficiency of the community's emergency response services.

"One of my greatest privileges is partnering with Kentucky's first responders, like Chief Darwin Rideout, to help provide the tools to keep these brave volunteers safe as they carry out their mission," said Senator McConnell. "Drawing national attention to Kentucky's priorities is my responsibility as Senate Majority Leader, and I'm proud of the results I continue to deliver for communities like Hopkins County."
